Noosaville Million Paws Walk

Update regarding the Million Paws Walk event in Noosa
(Posted Friday April 4, 2025)

As you may have heard, our RSPCA Noosa centre will be closing on May 31, 2025.  RSPCA Queensland has provided pound management services on Council owned land since 1993, and the agreement with Noosa Council is coming to the end of its term without renewal.

This decision follows a significant decline in impounded animal numbers, with just a handful of animals coming into RSPCA Noosa’s care each month. The low number of animals arriving at the centre reflects the successful efforts by RSPCA and Council to improve animal welfare and promote responsible pet ownership in the community. Even though the Noosa centre will close, RSPCA Queensland remains committed to protecting animals in the region. Our Inspectorate will continue to respond to cruelty complaints and support at-risk animals, and the RSPCA Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Eumundi will continue to care for wildlife in the area.

Due to this situation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Million Paws Walk event in Noosaville on Sunday, May 25. Over the next eight weeks, our team will be focused on packing up the facility and returning the site to Noosa Council. Unfortunately, the timing of Million Paws Walk, along with the significant time and resources required to organise the event, means we are unable to proceed as planned.

We understand this news is disappointing, especially in light of 2025 being the final year for Million Paws Walk. We have reached out to current registrants regarding the options available for your registration - if you have not received an email about this, please let us know at community@rspcaqld.org.au. If you have already registered, the fundraising page that was generated for you will remain active, and all donations you receive will still support animals in the region that rely on our Inspectors and Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in their time of need.

If you do not have your own fundraising page and would like to make a donation, you can do so on the RSPCA Noosa shelter team's page here.

We encourage our wonderful Million Paws Walk community in the Sunshine Coast to share their favourite memories from the event on this post on the RSPCA Noosa Facebook page.

Thank you for walking alongside us over the years and being part of the wonderful legacy RSPCA Noosa has created for so many animals.
